Last week, Radiohead released Kid A Mnesia, a triple album commemorating the release of Kid A and Amnesiac. After years of waiting, they dropped two albums and a tour and I was not. The project also features contributions from video/computer artist and creative director Sean Evans, theatre set designer Christine Jones, interactive producer Matthew Davis, his studio, and game developers Arbitrarily Good Productions. 20 years ago, I flew up and down the West Coast to see Radiohead three times. Ranked 21 game of 2021 and 571 All-time among Glitchwave users. “Kid A Mnesia Exhibition,” initially planned to be a physical installation but moved to digital partially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, was created from original artwork by frontman Thom Yorke alongside Stanley Donwood, who has been making the band’s album art since 1994, also featuring sound design from producer Nigel Godrich. Well good news if you are one of those people, you can soon experience the both them smooshed together in the Radiohead Kid A Mnesia Exhibition. At the same time, it might be worthwhile even if you're only casually familiar with Radiohead's tunes. Built with Unreal Engine 4 and Wwise, and released as a free museum exhibition on Epic Games (PC & Mac) and PlayStation 5. This is clearly a plug for the Kid A Mnesia album that includes both albums and a string of previously unreleased material. An upside-down digital/analogue universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Kid A and Amnesiac. Radiohead, Godrich and Donwood teamed with Namethemachine, Arbitrarily Good Productions, artist Sean Evans and theater set designer Christine Jones to create the exhibition. The exhibit was originally meant to be physical, but a combination of "laws of zoning and physics and COVID-19" (according to Epic) pushed it to the digital realm. ![]() ![]() As you can see from the trailer, the finished project is just what you'd expect - it's a trippy 3D art gallery that blends Radiohead's music from Kid A and Amnesiac (including new sound design from Nigel Godrich) with the unsettling artwork of Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood. ![]() You can wishlist it on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store. The Kid A Mnesia: Exhibition is not a video game, as players are told in no uncertain terms early on in the experience.
